Since 1965, the historic Woodlawn estate has hosted the largest judged show of needle arts in the nation with hundreds of embroidery pieces on display from artists all over the world. The month-long fundraiser is put together by Nelly’s Needler’s Needlework Group, established in 1975 to help in the preservation of Woodlawn through the pursuit of fine needlework. This group of dedicated individuals has raised and donated more than $1,000,000 to help preserve Woodlawn as a historic property through a variety of needlework-related activities. These funds have allowed for the enhancement of visitor amenities, contributions to special capital improvement projects, and the continued growth of the Woodlawn Endowment Fund.
The event will take place every day in March, except Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Woodlawn is located at 9000 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, Virginia 22309.
